3 Perfect Days: Keystone, Colorado

Lyndsay Haywood

My 3 Perfect Days...

Day 1

Morning:
I would go to Inxspot (more of a local's place for breakfast) for coffee and breakfast (they have great breakfast wraps and bagel sandwich menu).

Afternoon:
I would meet up with some friends and we would ride up the River Run Gondola in Keystone. We would snowboard over the backside to Mozart and out to the back bowls. It would be an all day adventure. Snacking on granola bars, we would leave the mountain around 4 or 5 pm.

Evening:
Happy Hour is a great time to get food at Dos Locos. They have great margaritas and offer various types of beer.  My buddies and I would stay there to play some foosball or pool or watch a sport's game. It's a great place to meet up with friends and the view of the mountain is wonderful at night with all the runs lit up.

Day 2

Morning:
I would go to Starbucks in River Run for coffee and quick breakfast pastry.

Afternoon:
I would spend some time in Keystone's A51 terrain park. Keystone has great terrain parks for everyone at many different levels. Then, I would have a late lunch at Kickapoo's Tavern and get a burger or a sandwich with a few of my friends that work in the area. Kickapoo has a great family atmosphere and an outdoor patio. It is also a great place to grab a beer right near the gondola. After lunch I would be back out on the mountain to ski some groomers before it got too cold and icy.

Evening:
After skiing, I would meet some buddies and stay at the Green Light to get a drink and dance. Green Light is a great place that is close to the mountain and offers a great atmosphere. Later that evening, I would take the bus home and get some sleep. Keystone has a great bus and shuttle system. It is very convenient and easy to use.

Day 3

Morning:
I would wake up later than other days and decide to take a break from snowboarding and try my hand at skiing for a change. I would make a quick breakfast at home.

Afternoon:
I would get on my trusty skis and ski some groomers for a couple hours with some buddies of mine. We would then warm up around the fire pit in the heart of River Run. The River Run area offers a cozy atmosphere and many little shops. Its a great place to sit and people watch. We would get food at the Haywood Cafe. They have wonderful sandwiches and wraps, I love their French Dip. It has a sports bar atmosphere and is casual. It's a great place to grab lunch.

At about 3 pm I would meet up with my roommate and start snowshoeing around Keystone area (around Tenderfoot Lodge). It gets dark and it gets cold so I would hustle home around 5 or 6 and I I would make dinner at home.  My roommate and I would play some video games with friends before sitting in the hot tub and swimming.

Evening:
Then off to bed to await another perfect day in Summit County!
