The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band consists of dyed-in-the wool traditional players with over 100 years of combined recording and performance experience. Joining guitarist Peter Rowan are Jody Stecher, mandolin; Keith Little, banjo; and Paul Knight, bass. The ensemble has graced the stages of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Grey Fox, Merlefest, Rothbury and numerous other festivals, entertaining audiences with original songs executed in vibrant harmony.
Shannon Whitworth has made her mark on the Americana music scene with her unmistakable voice, her original songwriting, and her national touring schedule and festival appearances. Whitworth has dabbled throughout the Americana genre, originally the front-woman in the acclaimed bluegrass/folk group the Biscuit Burners, and now a successful solo artist. She has spent the last ten years focusing on mountain, bluegrass, and country music. Whitworth is a talented songwriter and instrumentalist who knows how to capture the listener completely, reaching directly to the heart.
The rusty, lonesome, sound of the Steel Pennies harkens back to the heyday of bluegrass music. Even the band's numerous original songs have a timeless feel. The collaboration of so many musicians has taken the music in subtly different directions on many occasions, like water threading through a mountain valley. However, the result is always true to our convictions: hard driving, honest, well played, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Honey Don't is the musical union of Bill Powers and Shelley Gray, perhaps better known as one-half of the Paonia, Colorado based old-time bluegrass band, Sweet Sunny South. Their music is acoustic and based in the folk tradition. They draw from their bluegrass and old-time background while injecting country, blues and a little swing. The songs are catchy and engaging, funny, sad, lonesome and uplifting. Most of the songs are original, but select covers and traditional tunes are part of their repertoire as well.
Denver-based Loose Cannon Bluegrass feels equally at home with original songs or traditional bluegrass, soft ballads or up-tempo selections, sweet bluegrass harmonies or instrumental barn-burners.
In a world that is becoming increasingly digitalized and impersonal, the Honeycutters are building a reputation based on live performance and songs that tend to stick with you. The Honeycutters create an original brand of Americana.
Since its formation a few years ago, this Nashville-based band has burst on to the acoustic scene at high-profile festivals like Grey Fox and MerleFest. The Farewell Drifters feature an acoustic lineup that serves as the perfect setting for their folk and pop sensibility allowing them to explore a multitude of genres.
