The spring thaw in Keystone means play time for water enthusiasts. Wether you are looking to kayak your way through gorgeous scenery, float with the family you'll be impressed to see what all those inches of snow look like during spring runoff!

Whitewater Rafting
whitewater rafting

Keystone is conviently located between many of Colorado's best rafting areas including the Arkansas, Colorado, and Eagle Rivers. This makes it so you can pick the exact type of whitewater rafting trip you and your family would like to experience. Experience fun smoother rapids (class I-II), or bigger faster rapids (class III-IV) or even the big heart pounders (class IV-V). Rafting season begins mid June and goes till early September, but is dependent upon water levels.

Types of Trips:

  • Relaxing Float For Beginners:
Trips for beginners involve trips on class II and III rapids. You can choose half or full day trips to locations like Granite Gorge, Brown's Canyon, Ruby Ripple on the Arkansas and sections of the Colorado River like Gore Canyon. These scenic trips are an excellent alternative for those wanting relaxing flatwater, small scale rapids, and beautiful scenery.
  • Pure Excitement For Intermediates:
These half or full day trips are for those you like some excitement! Experience fast big rapids on sections of the Arkansas like Brown's Canyon, Wild Horse Canyon or Bighorn, head to the Colorado's big rapids in Shoshone or the upper waters. Or spend the day traversing the technical stretch of Clear Creek Canyon.
  • Heart Pounding Adrenaline for Advanced to Expert:
Trips like these are not for the faint of heart and really do require previous experience. The Arkansas is known for it's huge rapids and experience them in half or full day trips to areas like the Numbers, known for it's 8 huge drops of rapids, the Gauntlet and Royal Gorge.
